about

Today I woke up and read about the death of Daniel Johnston.

Yesterday I realised that today I will be pretty free after a long while of having a lot of things on the back of my mind, mostly about this silly exhibition I had decided to do.

I started recording by the balcony. One song in, I opened the balcony to let in some wind and some sounds from the outside. I always feel guilty that unlike everyone working outside I’m here at home, making music. Art-making is a senseless and privileged activity. Well, so is going to the gym.

I made this album for Daniel Johnston who I don’t know, my good friend Fiona whose birthday was a few days ago, Caterina who I imagine will be quite emotional or maybe stressed that she leaves Singapore in several days time after staying here for two years, and Renée who is at work and hasn’t been happy in a while.

I had been making music but they all sound like shit (like they often do) and I hate that I easily hate all of my work most of the time (if not then just eventually), so I am going to get a job. Recently I have also been more and more afraid of people than usual, but yet many people have been really nice to me. Releasing this album anyway as a thank you to people around me and to Daniel Johnston.
